Umicore Precious Metals (Thailand) Ltd. was incorporated on 3rd November 1993 as Degussa Thailand Ltd. as a trading company, with the first name change to JJ-Degussa (T) Ltd. after the joint venture on 1st April 1997. The name was changed to dmc-2 Metals (Thailand) Ltd. on 6th July 2000 after Allgemeine Gold-und Silberscheideanstalt, Pforzheim/Germany became shareholder in 1999. On 13th May 2002 the company name changed again to OMG Metals (Thailand) Ltd. after being acquired by the OM Group in 2001. Effective 1st August 2003, the Belgian n.v. Umicore S.A., Brussels, took over the former Degussa precious metal business from the OM Group, Cleveland. Umicore is a materials technology group. Its activities are centred on four business areas : Advanced Materials, Precious Metals Products and Catalysts, Precious Metals Services, Zinc Specialties.
